چکیده

Speech communication can be viewed as an interactive process involving a functional coupling between sensory and motor systems. One striking example comes from phonetic convergence, when speakers unconsciously tend to mimic their interlocutor’s speech during communicative interaction. In order to test whether deaf people with cochlear implantation did recover such perceptuomotor abilities, we measured online imitative changes on the fundamental frequency in relation to acoustic vowel targets in a non-interactive situation of communication during both unintentional and voluntary imitative production tasks. We showed that cochlear implanted participants have the ability to converge to an acoustic target, both intentionally and unintentionally, albeit with a lower degree than normal hearing participants. These results suggest that cochlear implanted patients recovered significant perceptuo-motor abilities less than two years following cochlear implantation.

Investigating the Effect of Cochlear Size in Insertion of Electrode Depth in Patients with Cochlear Implantation evaluated by CT-Scan

Background Cochlear implant surgery is an invasive procedure for patients with bilateral Sensorineural hearing loss and may cause some risks such as cochlear damage. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cochlear measures obtained by computed tomography (CT) scan in predicting depth of cochlear implant insertion. Materials and Methods This study was conducted in a retrospective and cross-se...

بررسی اثر فیدبک شنوائی در تولید گفتار بعد از عمل کوکلئار ایمپلنت

The main goal of this study is to determine the auditory feedback effects in improvement of speech production process in prelingual totally deaf children who used cochlear implant prosthesis. For this reason, we recorded speech of four prelingual cochlear implant children pre and post of operation. Then we extract some static features of vowels-such as fundamental frequency, formant frequencies...

COCHLEAR IMPLANTATION IN IRAN

Cochlear implantation has become an increasingly common procedure in the rehabilitation of selected cases of profound deafness.' Patients should have profound total bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. Sound is transformed into small electric currents which stimulate the auditory nerves in the cochlea and generate the hearing sensation. The nucleus cochlear implant is the result of more t...

Relationship between Electrically Evoked Compound Action Potential Thresholds and Auditory, Language, and Speech Progress after Cochlear Implant Surgery

Introduction: Electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP) is an objective auditory response that can be used in the programing of cochlear implants. The aims of this study were to monitor ECAP thresholds and auditory, language and speech progress for 6 months after cochlear implant surgery and to evaluate any relationship between them.   Materials and Methods: Ten children with a m...

Speech, Hearing and Language: work in progress Volume 13 Individual differences in phonetic perception by adult cochlear implant users: effects of sensitivity to /d/-/t/ on word recognition

This study examined whether the phonetic perceptual phenomena associated with categorical perception in normal-hearing listeners (i.e., sharp identification functions, poor within-category sensitivity, high between-category sensitivity) are predictive of individual differences in speech recognition performance among cochlear implant patients. Adult postlingually deafened cochlear implant users,...
